The district of Verden is continuously working on connecting peripheral regions with fast Internet for the digital Future .

Integration of mobile forms of work: A step into the Future

One of the central challenges in Digitalization is the sustainable expansion of broadband. Since 2008, the district of Verden has been working in coordination with the towns and municipalities to connect particularly peripheral and previously underserved locations to fast internet through targeted measures. In addition to the digital infrastructure in the region, small and medium-sized companies are increasingly facing challenges that affect their own company organization: How do you take employees with you on the path of digital transformation? How do processes in Manufacture and administration change? How can mobile forms of work be integrated? How can products be marketed digitally and how can data be protected in the process? The information and consulting platform LandkreisDIGITAL provides help with these questions - it gives companies an overview of various consulting services and access to the latest information.

Digital participation in old age

How do you make it easier for older people to access Digitalization? "Just get started," is the answer from Dagmar Hirche, Chairwoman of the "Wege aus der Einsamkeit" association in Hamburg. In order to promote the digital participation of older people, Hirche is calling for more training courses for senior citizens on the use of cell phones and tablets. Hirche and her colleagues have organized online training courses themselves and have helped around 34,000 participants take their first steps into the digital world over the last ten years. Hirche also believes that banks and insurance companies, which nowadays expect their services to be used digitally, have a duty: they should offer regular training courses, for example on online banking.
