Lebenshilfe Verden offers a comprehensive range of services for children from infancy to adulthood. This includes early intervention, daycare centers, after-school care, school assistance and a wide range of counseling and support options for children with and without disabilities.
Our Likedeel school provides primary and secondary education, while the final year prepares students for adult life.
The open support services support various areas of life, such as everyday or leisure activities as well as daycare, school or university attendance.
Lebenshilfe Verden was founded in 1963 by Helen von Lührte and others - on her green living room sofa in Verden. Helen von Lührte was herself the mother of an affected child and experienced how people with disabilities were treated under National Socialism.
Her vision: All people are equal and all people deserve a good Life.
Helen von Lührte passed away at the age of 94. Shortly before her death, a documentary was filmed in which she herself has her say. The green sofa from back then was still in her living room - Lebenshilfe has grown considerably in all this time and has achieved a great deal.

The origins of Lebenshilfe Verden lie in a parents' association - and this basic idea has remained intact to this day. At the same time, Lebenshilfe has always kept its finger on the pulse of the times and has never missed out on modern developments.
A lot has happened in society and there have been many steps towards inclusion. At the same time, there is still a lot to do.
Anyone can make a personal contribution by becoming a member of the association, regardless of whether they are affected, a relative or simply a friend of the central cause. A deliberately low annual membership fee ensures that everyone can participate, and no one should be excluded for financial reasons.
